Our team

James Sullivan
Founding Director
Leading the vision, development and execution of our next-generation data management platform for collaborative, socially responsible research. With a strong background in software development and data infrastructure, James brings rigorous technical expertise and a deep understanding of challenges researchers face in managing their data. Prior to founding Civex, James led the development of various data management projects across financial institutions in Australia. He also founded and ran a computer hardware company. James then went on to lead the development of a cloud-based data management platform for marine research at the University of St Andrews. As the architect of Civex's platform and strategy, James is focused on building the infrastructure that will shape the future of research data — empowering teams to move from fragmented systems to structured, enduring, and collaborative data ecosystems.
